Strengthen community justice, Support Centro Legal de La Raza

Dear friends,

I am making an appeal to join me in supporting Oakland-based Centro Legal de La Raza. Your support will help strengthen and build community-based justice and power! Click here to give to Centro Legal de La Raza

I have been a member of Centro’s Board of Director since October 2006. And the Centro was founded back in 1969 by deeply thoughtful and visionary Chicano and Chicana law students and activists in Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco area universities. Here we are in 2013, our demands are similar but our knowledge, organization and expertise even deeper. Your support will help Centro meet the challenges in 2014 and beyond.

Centro is headed up by a determined Latina, a lawyer herself, who works with an incredibly talented and committed staff of lawyers and community-based advocates who provide legal and youth services. Centro’s work supports and defends the rights of youth, immigrants, tenants  and workers. Centro provides premier education services to students through its Youth Law Academy — putting high school age students on a career path to become lawyers rooted in community-based ideals of justice and service to our peoples.

Centro Legal de La Raza serves everyone who comes to their offices in Oakland. Documented and undocumented, young and old, women, youth, men, workers. Come visit Centro during the day and some evenings to see the magic of decades of service and daily hard work to make things better for our communities.

What is the magic? Centro’s magic is the result of a dedicated staff and the soulful support of individuals like you who know how the movements for justice and human rights need to combine action, community organizing and legal services to make a difference in the fight for defending and expanding our rights.

Imagine what the world would look like if in1969 the youth-led movement had not created Centro Legal de La Raza. That’s not the case! Over the years, community members and supporters like you have done their part for Oakland and the Bay Area communities helping make Centro stronger every year.

Please help Centro make a difference in the fight for justice and rights:

Thanks also to those of you who have already contributed!

And thank you for considering my request to join me in supporting Centro.

Peace,

Arnoldo Garcia
